Airport Art & Airline Food

San Francisco to Phuket, Thailand - it was a loooong yet surprisingly easy trip, about 48 hours in duration! Our first, long flight was to Hong Kong. The plane was maybe half full - lots of elbow room - amazing how that makes it all so much easier!

Our vegetarian Indian food was delicious, we watched a bunch of movies, read & napped. In Hong Kong, we had booked an Overnight Lounge package, including sleeping area, shower & food - it was wonderful, just what we needed to restore sanity before continuing on.

We always love Airport Art. Here are a few faves from SFO & BKK:

After a long layover, the HK to Bangkok flight was also quite roomy & a short 2+ hour trip. We were amazed to find that we were to be fed on such a short flight! Strange looking, I know, but tasty.

And then, on our 1 hour, chock-full flight to Phuket, we were stunned to learn we were to be fed again! When the seatbelt sign went off the large crew leapt up & practically tossed us snack boxes, then served coffee, cleaned up & got themselves belted in for landing. Wow! These 2 meals were our fun faves & amazing to behold. Liz told us to take pictures of food, so I did.

Yes, that's a carrot & peas sandwich on white bread (no crusts). And strangely yummy, too! Vegetarian airplane food is always tricky - when you used to be able to get it anyway. Sometimes it's great, like our Indian food, sometimes... not so much. It did make me wonder, tho, if this was what we were getting on a Thai airline - what did that say about Thai vegetarian food in general? Hmmm...

Not to worry, tho, our first dinner on the ground was perfect - and not a cheeseburger in sight.
